Superintendent Salary Survey closes soon, there’s still time to participate

Invitations for the annual TASB/TASA Superintendent Salary Survey have been sent to superintendents and our survey contacts. Nearly 600 school districts have responded so far. If you haven’t participated yet, please take a few moments to complete the online survey . Eight hundred and eight districts responded last year, representing 79 percent of districts in Texas. Help us beat that number by providing your data this year!

And, of course, your participation will result in better data accuracy for everyone who uses the survey. The deadline for the survey has been extended to Sept. 23 for your convenience. Contact salary.survey@tasb.org if you need your survey password or have questions about how to complete it.

Also, look for a District Personnel Salary Survey questionnaire in your e-mail on Sept. 8, 2011. Even if your district froze salaries, there are still changes in pay levels due to retirements, new hires, staff reductions and more. If you’re wondering why you should participate, here’s what our survey will do:

• Measure the impact of funding, including reductions of pay, staffing, and work schedules
• Report on the number of districts that froze pay (and those that increased pay)
• Measure change in beginning and average teacher salaries
• Identify areas where pay may have increased
• Ensure current data on “hot” jobs (i.e., speech pathologist, high school principal)
