Our annual superintendent compensation survey questionnaires will be sent to all superintendents and HR Services program contacts on July 19. This is a month earlier than last year to give districts more time to respond. Surveys are due back to HR Services by Sept. 10.
We had a good response last year from 826 school districts and hope for even more this year with the extended timeline. The Superintendent Salary Survey Report and data are published on line (in myTASB) for all of the 960 districts in HR Services. A DataCentral subscription is not required to view salary survey results.
Renewal invoices for members of HR Services and DataCentral will be sent to our program contacts on Aug. 20. If you are already a subscriber to DataCentral, it will be included on your renewal invoice. If you would like to add DataCentral, just give us a call and we will include it. We will also be asking you to update the staff contacts for HR Services in your district.
If you are a new HR administrator, you will want to sign up for two TASB training events in September: Wage and Hour Rules for Public Schools on Sept. 15 and Rules of Engagement—Determining Employment Status on Sept. 16. Both are essential classes for new human resource administrators and will be held at TASB offices in Austin.
Yolanda Chapa will join the HR Services team in August as assistant director. She recently retired after six years as McAllen ISD’s superintendent. Prior to that she was assistant superintendent of Human Resources for nine years and a middle school principal. She will participate in the development of new and expanding services and oversee daily HR generalist operations. Although her official duties begin in August, she will be with us at the TASPA Summer Conference. Please stop by our booth and help us welcome Yolanda back to the HR fold!
