Oct. 1 starts a new membership year for HR Services. Membership renewal packets with invoices, contact update information, and service information were sent to all 936 members the last week of August. If you are the district program contact for TASB HR Services and have not received your membership packet, please contact us by phone (800-580-7782) or email us (hrservices@tasb.org).
The annual survey season is upon us. Superintendent Survey invitations were sent to all superintendents plus HR Services program contacts and salary survey contacts on Aug. 18. Superintendent surveys should be submitted by Sept. 26. Our new online survey 
is simple and quick to complete.
The District Personnel Survey will be sent to districts on Sept. 16 and should be completed by Oct. 17. This year the default survey instrument is electronic, but print copies are available upon request. The auxiliary and professional staff surveys have been combined into a single instrument called a SmartScreen that allows you to enter survey data directly into an Excel workbook.
The annual Texas School Personnel Administrators’ Academy hosted by TASB and the Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators (TASPA) will be held Nov. 3 and 4 at the Marriott Hotel in Round Rock. The Academy is the premier training event of the year for new or aspiring school personnel administrators. Featured topics run the gamut: survival skills needed by district HR leaders, legal issues, contracts, certification, compensation, leaves and absences, organizing the department, and more.
Melva Cardenas, long-time member of HR Services and executive director of HR for Midland ISD, is now the new director of credentialing for SBEC. Congratulations, Melva!
The annual TASB/TASA Convention will be held in Dallas on Sept. 26–28. TASB HR Services will have a booth in the TASB/TASA Exhibit Area. Be sure to stop by and say hello!
