Spring Workshops

TASB's annual spring workshops are offered across the state in conjunction with education service centers, state colleges and universities, and area school board associations. Workshops begin March 31, so check out dates and locations and make plans to attend the one in your area.

Convention Topics

Districts and organizations can submit up to three session ideas for the annual TASA/TASB Convention in Houston. Topics should focus on school leadership and management for superintendents, board members, and administrators. The deadline for program submissions is March 15.

Media Honor Roll

Districts have until April 15 to nominate reporters for TASB's Media Honor Roll. Use this opportunity to thank newspaper, television, and radio reporters who take a fair and balanced approach to district news.

Irving ISD Names Lone Finalist

On February 18, the Irving ISD Board of Trustees voted to name Dr. Dana T. Bedden as lone finalist for the position of superintendent/CEO. He has served public education for more than 18 years. He began his career as a health teacher for Pinellas County Schools in Florida. He worked in Virginia's Fairfax County Public Schools as a subschool principal from 1996 to 1999. In 1999, he moved to Washington, D.C., to serve as high school principal for the District of Columbia Public Schools. Bedden also served in Pennsylvania as regional superintendent for the School District of Philadelphia and as superintendent for the William Penn School District. In 2007, Bedden accepted his current position as superintendent of the Richmond County School System in Augusta, Georgia. During his career, he also has served as an adjunct faculty member at St. Joseph's University, Trinity College's School of Education, and George Washington University's Graduate School of Education and Human Development.
