About Us
Lazbuddie Independent School District (ISD) is located in the Texas Panhandle between the towns of Muleshoe and Friona and serves pre-kindergarten through 12th grades. The community is 86 miles northwest of Lubbock and 90 miles southwest of Amarillo. Lazbuddie is a prosperous farming and ranching community founded in 1926 by D. Luther (Laz) Green and Andrew (Buddie) Sherley. The combination of their names, gave the community the name of Lazbuddie. There are three churches, a post office, three businesses, a fire station, and a cafe. The school is the focal point of the community. Lazbuddie is drug-free, and the staff of the school is confronted with few discipline problems.
Lazbuddie ISD students continue as top performers at all levels of competition in a broad range of extracurricular programs. Recent achievements include state medals in UIL accounting, computer science, computer applications, poetry, and choir. Lazbuddie also has seen success with state and national competitions in FCCLA, the technical student association, and robotics. All of Lazbuddie's athletic programs have consistently placed teams and individuals in the state playoffs.
