About Us
The Nixon-Smiley Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) is a rural system located in a central Texas farming community. It serves approximately 1,000 diverse students from seven communities encompassing 367 square miles. The district was formed in 1982 as a result of the consolidation of Nixon and Smiley schools, which were struggling with financial, curricular, and facility challenges. Its three campuses now feature well-maintained buildings resulting from an ongoing physical plant improvement program.
The district enjoys an active and supportive community with the schools serving as the central focal point. A recently passed bond election, for example, resulted in a 4 to 1 margin of support. With the superintendent's outstanding leadership, the financial integrity of the district has remained strong.
