Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer (superintendent/CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the superintendent/CEO to be the educational leader of Crowley. The superintendent/CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain qualifications and characteristics as highly desirable in a superintendent/CEO:
A professional educator with experience as a teacher and campus administrator. A terminal degree is preferred Successful superintendent experience in a rapid growing district with similar demographics A proven ability to effectively manage in an environment of limited resources while working to improve the district's financial situation A decisive, confident administrator who is not afraid to make and support tough decisions An objective decision maker who uses data to support conclusions and possesses a working knowledge of Continuous Improvement A background in strategic planning and successful passage of school bonds is preferred A positive role model of trustworthy and ethical behavior who is approachable, outgoing, calm under pressure, and has a sense of humor Able to work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees, staff, and community to build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation throughout the district A highly effective communicator and "people person" with strong interpersonal skills and a proven record of building effective teams to improve student performance Sets high performance standards and holds staff and students responsible for their actions
