Qualifications & Characteristics

The superintendent, as chief executive officer (superintendent/CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the superintendent/CEO to be the educational leader of Borger. The superintendent/CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.

In concert with the staff, students, and community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain qualifications and characteristics as highly desirable in a superintendent/CEO:

  • A successful, proven leader with a background in curriculum and financial management

  • A creative thinker and innovator with a history of improving student performance.

  • A professional educator with experience as a campus and district administrator. Experience as a superintendent is preferred

  • Knowledgeable of and committed to residing in Borger and building long term stability for the district.

  • An effective communicator who is willing to listen to and consider different points of view

  • Has a reputation for being actively involved in district activities and visible throughout the community

  • A person who can build successful teams and motivate them to improve academic performance and strengthen the district's pride

  • A role model for honest and ethical behavior who is approachable, outgoing and friendly. Has a sense of humor

  • A strategic thinker who can set goals and performance standards needed to prepare students and the district for the future

  • Firm, decisive and works well under pressure
