Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer (superintendent/CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the superintendent/CEO to be the educational leader of Lovelady. The superintendent/CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain qualifications and characteristics as highly desirable in a superintendent/CEO: An instructional leader who can challenge the status quo, accepting nothing less than excellence as the non-negotiable standard for all individuals and district endeavors, while simultaneously demonstrating respect for traditions and past accomplishments An educator with prior experience and success in implementing and seeking funding sources for instructional programs to serve the needs and interests of diverse student populations An effective communicator who when making decisions and solving problems welcomes new ideas and actively listens to various points of view, then takes firm, decisive action A creative problem solver and planner who equitability allocates the necessary resources and leadership support that is needed for the success of all students and school programs An individual knowledgeable of financial management and state school and other funding sources, yet possesses the courage and confidence to seek assistance if needed An individual who is attentive to employees' morale and other needs, while providing disciplined, consistent leadership An approachable school district leader who is frequently visible in community affairs and is routinely a part of various kinds of campus and student activities An intelligent leader whose management style is marked by a high level of fairness, honesty and good humor that is evident to employees and students alike An individual who is familiar with and enjoys the life style and values of small, rural communities An instructional leader whose primary professional priority is to work in partnership with the Board of Trustees to establish a climate of mutual trust and cooperation, while planning, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of existing and new programs for students Approved: January 19,2010
