Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer (CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the education leader of Hart ISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a CEO:
An effective communicator with superior interpersonal skills who is approachable, friendly, and has a sense of humor
Has a reputation for being actively involved in district activities and visible throughout the community
A motivational leader who is attentive to staff morale with a proven ability in building an effective management team
Has a background in curriculum and instruction and school financial management
Relies on facts to make tough decisions in a timely way and then consistently supports those decisions
An experienced campus administrator who is a positive role model and sets high performance standards through personal example
Able to work in partnership with the Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation
An honest person with high moral standards and personal ethics
Mission
The mission of Hart ISD is to instill in students, parents, and community members the desire to view education as a life-long learning endeavor with family and community involvement. Student achievement and accountability will lead to responsible, moral, independent, and productive citizens.
