Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer (CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the educational leader of Tom Bean ISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a CEO:
An effective communicator with superior interpersonal skills and professional demeanor Has a reputation for being actively involved in district activities and visible throughout the community Has a background in curriculum and instruction and school financial management A collaborative problem solver who relies on facts to make tough decisions in a timely way and then consistently supports those decisions An experienced administrator with a proven record of success, preferably as either a superintendent or assistant superintendent Able to work in partnership with the Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation. An honest person with high moral standards and personal ethics A visionary who sets goals and standards then holds the staff accountable for achieving the outcomes Experienced in passing school bonds Committed to Tom Bean ISD and building long term stability for the district
