Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer (CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the education leader of Crystal City ISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a CEO:
An experienced leader who can provide direction to the district through a visionary and collaborative planning process Knows school financial management and state funding laws A thorough knowledge of curriculum and instruction and has a successful record of improving student achievement "People" person who communicates effectively (bilingual preferred) and can motivate staff and students to excel; a team player Able to work in partnership with the Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation. An honest person of integrity with high moral standards and personal ethics Understands the culture of Crystal City and/or has served in a district with similar demographics Committed to Crystal City ISD for the long term and demonstrates active involvement in the district and community
Mission
The mission of the Crystal City Independent School District, working in partnership with the community, has education as its top priority. By providing a safe and positive learning environment, all students will develop the competencies needed to become learned, responsible and conscientious members of society.
