Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer, is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the education leader of Brownwood ISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a CEO:
An experienced teacher, campus and central office administrator (superintendent/CEO or assistant superintendent experience preferred) who can provide direction to the district through a collaborative planning process Possesses a background in district financial management and curriculum and instruction A terminal degree is preferred but not required "People" person who communicated effectively and motivates staff and students to excel by his or her presence, support, and positive example Able to work in partnership with a Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation An effective problem solver who actively solicits input from those involved, reviews the facts, makes the tough decisions and supports those decisions with resources and personal commitment An honest person of integrity with high moral standards and personal ethics Understands the culture of and/or has served in a rural district similar to Brownwood ISD Committed to Brownwood ISD for the long term, willing to live in the district, and be actively involved in the district and community

Our Goal All Brownwood I.S.D. graduates will be academically prepared to complete an appropriate post-secondary educational program or enter the workforce and be successful. All Brownwood I.S.D. graduates will be encouraged to demonstrate self discipline and develop character traits like responsibility, honesty, and integrity.
