Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer (CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the education leader of La Feria ISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a CEO:
A strong, experienced, and visionary administrator with a new perspective, who can provide direction to the district through a collaborative planning process. Confident leader with a proven record of building successful teams and improving academic performance. Able to work in partnership with a Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation. An experienced financial manager who understands how to maximize the district's resources and tap alternative sources of funding. Person of integrity with high moral standards and personal ethics. Comfortable with the culture of a small, rural community that is predominately Hispanic. A superior communicator with refined interpersonal skills who is visible, willing to listen and learn, and interacts well with the staff and community. Committed to La Feria ISD for the long term and actively involved in the district and community.
Mission
The District is dedicated to the belief that all children can learn. It is also understood that children learn at different rates and have different needs. The District will work to supply all children with every learning opportunity possible to assist each individual student.
