Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer (CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the education leader of Hull-Daisetta ISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a CEO:
A strong, experienced administrator who can provide direction to the district through a collaborative planning process. Confident leader with a proven record of building successful teams, improving academic performance, and working effectively with different groups. Experienced with school budget development and financial management. "People" person with an easy manner who motivates staff and students to excel by his or her presence, support, and positive example. Able to work in partnership with a Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation. A creative problem solver who reviews all the facts, makes the tough decisions and then supports those decisions with resources and personal commitment. An honest person of integrity with high moral standards and personal ethics. Understands life in a small, rural district. Committed to Hull-Daisetta ISD for the long term, willing to live in the district, and demonstrate active involvement in the district and community. Knows and follows state education law.
Mission
The District's mission is to provide a safe, healthy, educational environment where all students can achieve their potential and develop a feeling of self-worth, so that they may become productive individuals in school as well as in society.
High expectations are set not only for students but for administrators, faculty, and staff as well.
Students shall be provided a well-balanced instructional program that meets their needs. The District believes that all students can and must learn, develop a love of learning, and exhibit a positive attitude throughout life.
The student's progress shall be monitored through a well-balanced curriculum that promotes fluency and problem-solving abilities in academic, vocational, artistic, physical, and technological areas.
An effective communication shall be developed between the home and the school that involves parents, school, and the community cooperating to provide the best opportunities for each student.
