Qualifications & Characteristics
Characteristics and qualifications highly desirable in an associate superintendent:
Master's Degree required, Doctorate Preferred. Five years of administrative experience, either five years as an elementary school principal; or three years of experience overseeing elementary school principals and two years of other administrative experience. Previoius experience as an assistant superintendent preferred. Knowledge of educational trends and goals as well as knowledge of effective school concepts and principles and the use of research and proven best practices in education. Knowledge of effective instruction, curriculum, special programs, resources, and site-based improvement. Possess the ability to facilitate group processes that lead to quality outcomes in the areas of implementation and the evaluation of curriculum, instruction, and school improvement. Ability to foster effective communication and working relationships with others in the organization, especially elementary school principals. Requires knowledge and skills in computer use and various software, i.e. Word and Excel. Bilingual required
