Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer (CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the education leader of Georgetown ISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a CEO:
A confident, proven educator with successful service as a superintendent/CEO capable of managing a fast growing district An experienced team builder who can unify the staff, faculty, and community An effective manager who sets clear direction, delegates authority, and trusts professionals to accomplish the district's mission without excessive oversight A capable strategic planner who can help the board articulate and achieve a vision for the future A progressive thinker willing to listen to others and integrate new ideas and concepts into the district Able to work in partnership with a Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation A reputation as an open, approachable, ethical and enthusiastic leader with a ready sense of humor who is involved in and visible throughout the district and community
