Qualifications & Characteristics

The superintendent, as chief executive officer, is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the superintendent/CEO to be the educational leader of the Clyde Consolidated Independent School District. The superintendent/CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.

In concert with the staff, students, parents, and community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a superintendent/CEO:

  • Is a visionary leader with the ability to build a broad consensus in support of the education programs and the use of the district's facilities, resources, and personnel effectively.

  • Is an effective communicator with superior interpersonal skills who can make and defend difficult decisions that are best for students.

  • Is an effective delegator who empowers staff members to carry out their responsibilities independently while remaining knowledgeable and accountable for the district's overall progress in carrying out its mission.

  • Is a motivational leader who is attentive to staff morale, and has a proven ability in building an effective management team engaged in collaborative planning, problem solving, and decision making.

  • Is visible in the community, on the campuses, and at student functions.

  • Is skilled in being involved with the community groups and organizations; and is able to effectively present the goals of the district to gain support for programs, bond issues, and community concerns.

  • Possesses high moral and ethical characteristics in a strong faith based community.

  • Possesses the ability to continually enhance the district's image of quality, small town community atmosphere, and building esteem between the community and school district.

  • A strong educational and community leader with a passion for excellence.


  • Mission

    The Mission of the District is to provide effective instruction in areas taught, to develop the potential of each student in the District, to build skills necessary for lifelong learning, and to develop a feeling of self-worth and confidence that will allow students to cope with their ever changing world environments.

    To this end, the campuses are committed to subscribing to the correlates of effective schools through their application in the daily operations at each campus and at all classroom levels.

    GOAL 1: PROFESSIONALISM
    Employees at all levels will be accountable for professional performance and conduct toward students, colleagues, school officials, parents, and members of the community.

    GOAL 2: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
    The Board will provide support through funding, policies, and resources enabling teachers and administrators to prepare all students for the higher standards of the state and post graduation. The Board expects appropriate curriculum alignment at all levels with core and elective course offerings that both challenge and motivate students.

    GOAL 3: FINANCIAL INTEGRITY
    The Board will stay abreast of all changes to the State's School Finance system as well as monitor the local budget (revenues, expenditures and fund balances) to insure fiscal responsibility.

    GOAL 4: FACILITIES - LONG RANGE PLANNING
    The Board actively supports proper maintenance of district facilities through adequate staffing and proper equipment. The Board will evaluate facilities and programs district wide in the process of developing long-range goals.

    GOAL 5: TECHNOLOGY
    The Board supports the use of technology through staff development for teachers and administrators to effectively integrate technology. Through the budget process, the Board will provide state of the art technology.

    GOAL 6: SAFE SCHOOLS
    The Board continues to support an aggressive drug and alcohol intervention and awareness program, which will promote safe and civil schools and a positive learning environment through the enforcement of the Student Code of Conduct.

    GOAL 7: COMMUNICATION
    The Board encourages effective two-way communication between the District and its stakeholders in order to establish a mutual understanding of needs, concerns, and goals of the District.

    GOAL 8:ADMINISTRATIVE OPERATIONAL PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES
    The Board will explore district / campus level organizational structures and staffing patterns to ensure efficient and effective delivery of educational services to the schools.
