Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer (CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the education leader of North Forest ISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a CEO:
Has confidence and experience as a superintendent/CEO. Can provide direction to the district through a collaborative planning process. Can provide strong leadership. Has a proven record of building successful teams, improving academic performance, and working effectively with different groups. Has experience in district budget development and financial management. Has a solid background in curriculum and instruction. Is a "people" person who motivates staff and students to excel by his or her presence, support, and positive example. Is able to work in partnership with a Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation. Is a well-organized and creative problem solver who reviews all the facts, makes the tough decisions, and then supports those decisions with resources and personal commitment. Is an honest person of integrity with high moral standards and personal ethics. Eligible for Texas superintendent/CEO certification. Doctorate preferred.
Mission
The mission of the District is to improve the quality of learning and increase students' achievement in all schools, through collaboration, so that students exhibit positive self-images and are prepared to assume economic, social, civic, and cultural responsibilities in a complex and changing society.
