Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer (CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the education leader for West Rusk County CISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a superintendent/CEO:
A person of integrity, high moral standards, and personal ethics who is honest and fair. A confident leader with a proven record of building successful leadership teams (in an educational environment) and improving academic performance for all students. Possesses a proven track record of working collaboratively with students, staff parents and community groups to improve education and lead district to a higher level of academic achievement. Is an experienced teacher and administrator with a proven background in budget development, and resource allocation. Is open-minded, approachable and accessible to all patrons. Is a focused, committed and accountable administrator who puts student learning and welfare first. Is able to work in partnership with a Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation. Possesses a track record of maintaining strong, fair and consistent discipline policies and practices. Possesses a track record of successfully recruiting and retaining highly qualified staff. Is committed to West Rusk County CISD for the long term and dedicated to being actively involved in a small, rural East Texas district and community.
Mission
The West Rusk CCISD public education system is devoted to ensuring that all children, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex or handicap, have access to a quality education by providing a well-balanced curricula in a safe invironment, free of drugs, violence, and fire arms, designed to equip students with the tools and understanding necessary to successfully negotiate the challenges to work and life as presented by an ever changing society.
