The Medina Valley ISD Board of Trustees request that each applicant include in their letter of application, a statement regarding their experience related to each qualification and characteristic listed below.
Qualifications & Characteristics
In concert with the staff, students, parents, and community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a superintendent:
Is an effective communicator, strong leader with superior interpersonal skills who is willing to make tough and difficult decisions that are best for all staff and students.An educational leader with a comprehensive view of education and has a proven success rate in increasing achievement levels of all students. Has experience and knowledge of diverse cultures and a commitment to the full development of all children. Is a visionary leader with the ability to build broad consensus in support of district goals, and to plan strategically to ensure the development of education programs at all levels. Has a history of effectively using district resources, facilities, and personnel to maximize each groups potential. Is a motivational leader who is attentive to staff and faculty morale, and has a proven ability in building an effective management team engaged in collaborative planning, problem solving, and decision making. A person who delegates duties, who empowers staff members to carry out their responsibilities independently while remaining knowledgeable and accountable for the district's overall progress in carrying out its mission. Is skilled in being involved with community groups and organizations, and is able to effectively present the goals of the district to gain support for programs, bond issues, and community concerns. Visible in the community, on the campuses, and at student functions. Has experience in a rapidly growing district and is prepared to handle the challenges facing a district and community on the verge of an increase in population and enrollment.

The mission of MVISD is to challenge its students with a safe, educational environment, designed to inspire excellence, promote creative thought, acheive maximum potential, and instill responsible behavior and attitudes.
