The superintendent, as chief executive officer (CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the education leader of Bandera ISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a CEO:
Experience as a superintendent, central office administrator, principal and teacher in a rural, close-knit Texas community Possesses a record of improving all academic programs based upon a thorough understanding of all curriculum areas, including advanced courses, vocational-career offerings, and special programs Demonstrates a willingness to thoroughly investigate decision-making opportunities before calmly making a determination that, when made, is followed through Visible resident in the community who always puts children first, whether at or away from the school setting Understands and promotes the chain-of-command and follows existing policy, recognizing that professionals must support decision-makers at every level Communicator with class who dresses professionally and listens to all parties Change agent who understands the public and is willing and able to stand toe-to-toe in promoting the welfare of students, teachers, and the school system
Mission
The mission of the Bandera ISD is to provide ALL students with the opportunity to succeed at their highest levels; academically, ethically, and socially, allowing students to advance successfully throughout their lifetimes.
