Texas’ Superintendent of the Year in 1994, served his entire 34-year career with Mission CISD as teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. He was an executive committee member of the Texas Association of School Administrators. Cantu joined TASB in 1995 as a field services representative. In May 1999, Cantu was nominated by Governor George W. Bush and approved by the Texas Senate to serve on the nine-member State Pension Review Board. He lives in Mission, Texas.
