(Austin) – The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has elected Benny May of Barbers Hill ISD to fill the interim vacancy in Region 4, Position C, until the next Delegate Assembly of the TASB Board of Directors.
He fills the position vacant due to Sarah Winkler’s election as TASB president-elect. May, a supervisor with Exxon Mobil, has served on his local board more than 12 years and held the positions of secretary, president and vice-president. A graduate of McNeese State University, May earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business.
TASB is a nonprofit organization established in 1949 to serve local Texas school districts. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 4.7 million public school students.
