Sheppard Reelected to Statewide Association Board

(Austin) -- The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has reelected Robert Sheppard of Pleasant Grove ISD to a three-year term on the TASB Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 8.
Sheppard has been a member of the Pleasant Grove ISD school board for 15 years and has served as its president and vice-president. He was appointed to the TASB Board in April 2007 and also serves as a TASB Risk Management Fund Board member. A retired revenue agent at the Internal Revenue Service, Sheppard serves on the board of the Red River Federal Credit Union and the Texas Credit Union League, and is the current chair of the Bowie Central Appraisal District. He also proudly serves as a member of the Methodist Retirement Communities Board. A master trustee and Leadership TASB graduate, Sheppard has served on the TASB Property/Casualty Fund Board, and has participated in Delegate Assembly and the Grassroots Advocacy Process. Sheppard belongs to the Northeast Texas School Boards Association, serving in 2000-01 as its president. He attended Louisiana Tech University and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics.
TASB is a nonprofit organization established in 1949 to serve local Texas school districts. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 4.6 million public school students.
