Hughes Reelected to Statewide Association Board

(Austin) -- The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has reelected Patricia Hughes of El Paso ISD to a three-year term on the TASB Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 19A.
Hughes was elected to the El Paso ISD (EPISD) board in May 2007 and currently serves as secretary. Hughes attended the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of Texas at Austin. She graduated with a bachelor of business administration in accounting.
Her civic involvement includes the EP ISD Council of PTAs, where she is president and treasurer; Franklin High School PTSA, where she serves as vice-president, parliamentarian, and Project Graduation co-chair; Hornedo Middle School PTA, where she is parliamentarian and treasurer; and Kohlberg Elementary School PTA, where she also is president and treasurer. Hughes served on the EPISD Budget Review Committee, and EPISD Districtwide Educational Improvement Council. Past district involvement includes EPISD 2003 Accountability Committee and EPISD 2003/2000 Bond Committee.
TASB is a nonprofit organization established in 1949 to serve local Texas school districts. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 4.6 million public school students.
