Harrington Elected to Statewide Association Board

(Austin) – The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has elected Melinda Harrington of Gorman ISD to a three-year term on the TASB Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 14. 

Harrington is the current president of the Gorman ISD board, previously serving as secretary.  She has been a trustee for seven years.

A Gorman High School graduate, Harrington is an educational diagnostician for the Comanche Special Services Co-op. She attended Texas A&M University, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.  Her educational pursuits earned her a bachelor of science and a master of education.

Nationally certified as an educational diagnostician in January 2008, she is a member of the Texas Professional Educational Diagnosticians, Texas Educational Diagnosticians Association, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi, and Delta Kappa Gamma, where she serves as the local legislative chairperson.

TASB is a nonprofit organization established in 1949 to serve local Texas school districts. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 4.6 million public school students.
