Susan Thames

Region 12

A board member since May 2005, Susan Thames is currently serving as vice-president of the Connally ISD Board of Trustees and has also served as secretary during her board tenure. Thames is an elementary school assistant principal for Waco ISD and an adjunct college instructor at McLennan Community College. A graduate of Connally High School, she attended McLennan Community College, Baylor University, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and Capella University.

Her studies have earned her an associate’s in business administration, a bachelor’s in English secondary education, a master’s in educational administration, and a doctorate in educational administration leadership. She is a member of the Greater Waco District Business and Professional Women, the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, The Links Incorporated, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. She also is a legislative liaison for the School Board Advocacy Network and a member of the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members.
