Gloria S. Casas
Region 1A
Casas joined the La Feria ISD Board in 1994 and has served as president and vice-president. She was elected to the TASB Board in September 2004. She is a member the 1999 Leadership TASB and earned the designation of a Master Trustee and has served as Region 1 representative on the TASB Legislative Advisory Council.
She is currently associated with Workforce Solutions Cameron as a Rural Business and Economic Development Specialist. In this role she manages a mobile resources unit to assist job seekers, business and industry by increasing services and communication to rural and underserved areas in Cameron County. She works jointly with local city government, businesses, school districts, churches, community leaders and social services agencies to address economic development. For over 40 years she has been involved in developing, organizing, implementing and managing a variety of innovative programs that addresses women’s health care, career development, community development and educational programs.
Casas is a graduate of Howard Payne University. She is a graduate of Dale Carnegie Leadership program and was the recipient of the Dale Carnegie Course Highest Award for Achievement for the class of 2002.
She has served as a member and president of the Parental Awareness League and La Feria Family Learning Center and has been a childbirth educator, high school health occupation mentor, "Madrina" for the Rio Grande Valley Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and Healthy Start Consortia chair and a past member of the steering committee for Monica’s House for abused children. She has served as a Volunteer Clinic Manager for Guadalupe Health Clinic, a free clinic that provides free healthcare to people not eligible for healthcare assistances and the Fish & Loaves, a local soup kitchen for the underserved.
